In the current age of LLM’s (large language models) many people use AI as a part of their writing process. There are a host of ethical, personal, and practical reasons why Editors may choose not to work on AI-written, or assisted, texts. This webinar is for Editors at any stage of their career who value human creativity in writing and want to communicate that as a core principle of their business. Participants will learn how to draft an AI policy that aligns with their personal values, how to navigate conversations with clients about AI usage, and how to find and attract clients that share values around the use (or, rather, disuse) of AI.
Paula John (she/her) is a freelance developmental editor and the founder of Iterations. She holds a PhD in Theatre & Performance Studies from York University, where her research focused on feminist performance art and the history of Spiritualism and science. Her research interests and areas of expertise more broadly include gender performance, embodiment, sexuality, feminist epistemologies, and knowledge production. As a developmental editor, Paula works primarily with artists and scholars. She is guided in everything she does by a queer, feminist, riot grrrl sensibility. This informs where she puts her time, the knowledge she wants to create in the world, and how she shows up for people. Paula lives in downtown Toronto with her daughter and isn’t nearly as self-serious as writing about oneself in the third person might otherwise imply.
